How do I know what kind of editing I need?
If you're not sure what type of editing you need, fill out a contact form! I'll provide a 1,500-word sample edit to determine your needs and if we're the right fit.
How long does an edit take?
It depends on the type of editing. The more detailed the editing, the longer it will take. I'll always try to work within your timeline, but I don't want to rush. It's in your book's best interest. Below are general time frames for a 80,000-word novel
Line Editing: 45 days Copyediting: 30 days Proofreading: 30 days How should I format my document?
All documents (excluding formatted PDFs) should be double-spaced in a serif font, like Times New Roman, and have page numbers.
Are you a writer?
Yes! I write young adult fiction. My debut short story, "The Only One," was published in The Voyage Journal, and I'm querying a novel. You can find out more about my writing at www.sarahmhawkins.com.
What is your professional training?
I was professionally trained while working as an editor in chief of a collegiate literary magazine. I also completed an intensive online training program with Proofread Anywhere. I continually invest in practice and training to sharpen my knowledge and skill.
Can you edit a PDF?
I'll only proofread on PDFs. Copyediting and line editing require more detail than a PDF annotating program can do.
What english variants do you edit?
Since I was born and raised in the US, I am most familiar with US English, but I have familiarity with Canadian English and British English.
How do you collect payment?
I invoice through Fiverr or Paypal. Either way, you'll be able to use Paypal to send a secure payment.
